This is the first Community Edition release since March 8, 2023, and it comes with a long-awaited technical refresh that updates the platform to run on modern infrastructure.
Key upgrades:
✅ PHP 8.3
✅ MySQL 8.0.34
✅ Elasticsearch 8.17.0
Another notable change is the new versioning model. Instead of the traditional numbering scheme, the Community Edition will now follow a year-based release format. The latest release is 2026-2 (skipping 2026-1 😉).
More importantly, this shift reflects a strategic decision: Community Edition now has its own versioning and technical independence from Enterprise Edition. This should reduce friction with legacy enterprise installs and give the community more flexibility moving forward.
At Inuar, we’ve already started using this new version today for one of our clients, and we’re very happy to help our clients stay on supported and secure infrastructure. It’s great to see the CE ecosystem moving forward again after more than two years.
